How billing works for 24 hour home care

Here is how billing works, in plain terms:

  • Care is generally billed by the hour.
  • Billing happens after the service is provided, usually weekly.
  • Hourly rates are not posted online. We give you a quote after a consultation, based on the care you need and the hours you use.
  • If a couple shares one caregiver, a discounted rate applies. The exact discount is shared in your consultation.

For what a quote covers, see cost and what's included. For ways to pay, see paying for care.

24 hour home care: live-in or shift care?

These are two different setups, and the right one depends on what your loved one needs at night.

  • Live-in care:A caregiver stays in the home and provides care at set times. It assumes the caregiver sleeps and rests, so it generally suits someone who sleeps through the night and needs help during the day. It is not one person caring nonstop around the clock.
  • 24-hour shift care:Several caregivers work in shifts to cover the day and night. If your loved one needs someone awake all night, we schedule an overnight shift on that basis. That fits needs such as night wandering or repeated help getting to the bathroom.
